Ida M. Arnold, 96 years of age, of 1486 Ebony Drive Castle Rock, Colorado entered into the presence of the Lord on February 17, 2024. She was born on September 18, 1927 in Rome, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Lewis Cole and Hazel Skinner Cole.
Ida graduated from Athens High School where she played trumpet in the school band.
Ida was a former member of the Sayre Pilgrim Holiness Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, and she played trumpet in the church orchestra.
Upon moving to Castle Rock, Colorado, she attended worship services at the Brookside Inn.
Ida’s memberships included the Sayre Senior Citizen’s Club and she was a volunteer at the Robert Packer Hospital for nearly 15 years. In April, 2006, Ida was selected as the Volunteer of the Year.
On June 19, 1954, Ida married Charles L. Arnold at the Sayre Pilgrim Holiness Church, the ceremony being conducted by Reverend Francis T. Finch.
Ida’s employment included Acme Markets, Paxar Corporation, J.J. Newberry Company, and Moreton Cleaners.
Ida is survived by her son Kenneth E. Arnold (C. Beth) of Castle Rock, Colorado, granddaughter Keri Arnold (Christian Stump) and great granddaughter Charlee Rey Stump of Sacramento, California, grandson Kory Arnold of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Kevin Bowler of San Diego, California. Brothers Aubrey and Keith Cole of Athens, Pennsylvania are her remaining immediate family, as well as, several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Ida was pre-deceased by her mother Hazel Skinner Cole, father Lewis C. Cole, stepmother Lura Cole, sisters Mary O’Connell, Frances Johnson, Carrie A. Tribe, Madeline (Barry) Nothstein, brothers Kenneth Cole, Arthur Cole, Elmer Cole, Charles Nichols, and Lyle Cole.
Ida will be missed by her son Kenneth and family. Her sense of humor and her caring demeanor have been her trademark throughout her time on earth.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 11:00am at the
Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA.
Burial will follow in Nichols Cemetery, Nichols, NY.
